Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am finally catching up with the enormous amounts of mail!! I just wanted to put in my thoughts about the pred. I personally don't mind, as I can BREATHE when I am on it. The low dose I take (5mg per day) also takes care of silly things like eczema. I will never forget being in the ER room having a severe attack of asthma/rp related breathing difficulties, and the nurse was saying how wonderful steroids were. She said thirty odd years ago, we just had to watch patients like you die; and now we can give them dramatic relief. I always bear that in mind!! My docs have said I possibly can't manage without a low dose, just try and keep it under 10mg. When I used to go off it I used to flare and have to go up to 30/40 or 50. The up and down is very hard for your body to cope with. I have felt pretty good on 5mg. Also take 15mg mtx weekly, and 400mg plaquenil daily. and occasional celebrex. I take Zantac 75 twice daily to help with the stomach problems, but now I am taking Fosamax also I think I might need more or something else, which I will talk to rheumy about. I have my first shot in the knees tomorrow, everyone I have spokin to sounds v. positive, will let you know!! Love, Liz __________________________________________________
