Guest guest Posted September 20, 2007 Report Share Posted September 20, 2007 JOB ANNOUNCEMENT HIV/AIDS PREVENTION SPECIALISTFarmworker Justice (FJ), a non-profit education and advocacy group for migrant andseasonal farmworkers, based in Washington, D.C., is seeking an HIV/AIDS Prevention Specialist to become a team member in a 3-person HIV/AIDS prevention project (www.farmworkerjustice.org).Job Summary: Become a member of a 3-person HIV/AIDS prevention team that provides capacity-building assistance and training to community-based organizations, health departments, and peer health educators serving migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families. The HIV/AIDS Prevention Specialist will assist in writing grant proposals and articles, give presentations, and provide training. Tasks will include:identifying potential funding sources and collaborating on the writing of grant proposals;substantial writing of educational materials, articles, and reports; conducting training on HIV/AIDS prevention interventions with community-based organizations, health department staff and promotores de salud (lay health educators); giving presentations at professional gatherings, as a representative of Farmworker Justice;evaluating program outcomes, using qualitative and/or quantitative methods; andfrequent travel.This job will also require the successful candidate to develop and maintain on-going relationships with community-based organizations, translate research findings into practice, analyze data, track requests for assistance and file documents on-line, etc. Qualifications:Masters degree or above in public health or related field required;Demonstrated ability to write proposals and manage grants; Minimum of 2 years of work experience in HIV/AIDS prevention or working with migrant and seasonal farmworkers on health issues; Excellent English oral and written communication skills required; Ability to speak, read and write Spanish fluently required; Strong interpersonal skills working with diverse constituencies; Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and familiarity with on-line filing of documents required;Ability to do quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis; Ability to work in a team as well as independently on multiple projects; Well-organized and detail-oriented.Farmworker Justice is an equal opportunity employer.
