Guest guest
I so looked forward to the positive updates from other parents when I started this journey, so I thought I would share our succes after one year SCD. Every year my extended family gets together for a long vacation at the beach. Last year was a very difficult year for all as it became obvious that my son was developmentally delayed and quite possibly on the spectrum. I returned home from the trip flip flopping between that mother bear strength and a certainty that I could " fix " this and an incredible sense of sadness and despair. I researched like a madwoman, talked to anyone who would listen, met with a DAN!, etc., etc. In all of this, I found SCD and it became my most effective intervention. My son went from a child who was tantrumming constantly, not able to ask or answers any questions, and had terrible eye contact, to a lovely little guy who now has friends, goes to regular pre-school, has much improved eye contact, carries on conversations, and asks lots of questions. Some parents dread that " Why " stage, I was over the moon when it hit. We returned for our annual beach trip this year and he shocked those family members who had not seen him for one year. My sister who previously worked in early intervention and as a pre-school special ed. teacher was amazed. She really could not believe the changes this diet has made. I was so proud of my little guy. We have worked so hard and he has done a tremendous job. We have had many bumps along the journey in this last year and have relied heavily on the advice from those on this board. It has more than paid off. Well, I am tired and I am not even sure that this is all clear, but I sure hope it helps those just beginning. molly I should also mention that the only other interventions we did were to add a multi-vitamin, a mineral supp., CLO, and probiotics to his diet. And, that he is dairy-free SCD. Oh yeah, and one of my sisters has now bought BTVC to help with her own digestive issues. Spreadin' the word.
