Guest guest
For those in the " But I *hate* smoothies camp " (like me): I'm on a continual quest for tasty, fast, easy-to-fix, sits well in the stomach, high protein foods. Keep in mind I live by myself, I rarely if ever cook, I haven't got gourmet tastebuds, and your mileage may vary. Here's one: In the canned foods section at a Super Walmart (you may have noticed I shop there a lot. That is all we have here pretty much): Castleberry's Oven Roasted Barbecue Beef in Barbecue Sauce with textured vegetable protein added. Cost about a $1.28 for a 10 oz. can. There are supposedly 4.5 servings in this can, but even with my MGB stomach, I easily ate close to half the can at one sitting, so they must have been measuring for very small children. Anyway, in half a can, you get 30 grams of protein (better than half the day's requirements of 45-55 g), about 300 calories, about 20g fat (kinda high), only 6g carbohydrates!! and only 5g sugars, and woohoo, you get 2.5 g fiber. Anybody on the Atkins diet can probably eat this, too. It was pretty tasty to me.
