Guest guest
Pamela, I don't know the whole situation as to how long you've been scd, and how long the constepation has been persisting. Have you tried prune juice? Also, you can try some pediatric sapositories. I don't know if that would be a concern for some reason for you, but I have used the with all of my children at various times with good results. There can sometimes be a trick to getting the bowels moving when they've been blocked for so long and very impacted. You have to insert the sapository a certain way, and you may have to use several over the course of a day or two. I can give you further instruction if you think that it might help. Meleah C. has been on the diet for a month and has had cooked prunes daily! > X-rays revealed yesterday that is still full of poop! I > prefer to go as natural as possible to clear him. Any suggestions??? > In 2 weeks we see the urologist again and I may be forced to use MEDS > if this does not clear within the next two weeks! Guest guest
Thanks YOU Meleah! has been using organic cooked prunes for about 1 month now. I also give him organic prune juice with No added sugar. I can't believe that this has not done the trick! I don't feel good about using a supository with him. He is 16 and been thru so many tests that hurt him lately! He does drink LOTS in a day though about 2 liters of water/green tea/prune juice. He drink cranberry juice with lots of water and stevia too. I have not done orange juice and would only do an ORGANIC TYPE with no sugar. I am not at all OK with anything NON organic especially with all the bad chemicals sprayed on oranges. Could organic orange juice help? Maybe one with lots of pulp. does not eat oranges generally as it is hard to get organic ones. I am cooking all his fruit still too. He has been on the SCD for about one month now. Thanks and cheers! Guest guest
Dear Pamela, I, too, have a child that has had great difficulty with chronic constipation. Elaine's constipation protocol helped briefly, but it wasn't a permanent solution for us. Many of the other typical solutions (vitamin C, magnesium, etc.) didn't really work for us either. Something that has helped immensely, though, was the electrolyte solution recipe on the Pecanbread website. My daughter is MUCH more regular now since I give her this stuff daily. My guess is that somehow her electrolyte level was significantly diminished, inhibiting her ability to pass her bowels. I don't have any other explanation for why this helped. Anyway, I thought maybe this was something you could give a try. I'll cross my fingers for you. Guest guest
Another thing that helps with constipation is beets... I would serve them cooked and pureed, if possible. Someone also once posted that fresh been JUICE (home juiced) was helpful. Patti Re: has been on the diet for a month and has had cooked prunes daily! Dear Pamela, I, too, have a child that has had great difficulty with chronic constipation.

It may be too soon for , but I juice watermelon, strawberries and beets together with a tiny bit of ginger and dilute with water. I'd wait a while before trying this as it tastes strong. Carol F. Guest guest
Thanks Carol and Patti! I will try to get this on Monday. I started the electrolytes water recipe! He has had 1.5 liters thus far. Seem to like it LOTS! I am gicving it to my child with achondroplasia as well. I feel she has major gut issues too! She too is full of poop. So lets hope it helps! I will keep you all posted!!! Great to have so many here to get info and learn with!!! Cheers and much thanks! Pamela > > Another thing that helps with constipation is beets... I would serve them cooked and pureed, if possible.
