Guest guest
Will the electrolyte solution help with other gut probems besides consitpation, i.e. diarrhea? Does it promote healthy gut overall? Rob's mom Prior message: > I, too, have a > electrolyte solution recipe on the Pecanbread website. Guest guest
Well, I don't know this for sure. But doesn't diarrhea lend itself to dehydration which lends itself to depleted electrolytes (my daughter does urinate a lot, so I think she was slightly dehydrated)? If this is correct, my guess is that it might help. The ingredients are water, honey, salt, and baking soda. So if you are able to give your child those ingredients, I don't think it would hurt them. So maybe you could just test it? I really don't know whether it helps with overall gut stuff. There are many who are concerned with giving their kids any honey due to the possibility of it feeding yeast. But I think this listserve's position is that honey does not feed yeast (it has something to do with biofilm, but I don't completely understand it). Also, the honey is really diluted in the solution . . . so if you are OK with it, maybe a trial is a good idea. I will say that I also add one freshly squeezed, organic lemon to the mixture after it cools because fresh lemon juice aids digestion and also helps to alkalize the body's ph level (my kids ph level tends to be acidic due to their heavy metal toxicity). I suppose this may have also helped my constipated child, and I probably should have mentioned it before.
