Help with QualChoice Please!

Hi! I'm Kathy and just getting started with the process. I live in

ville, North Carolina and work for son County. I have

QualChoice insurance who said they would not pay for the surgery

unless it was for medical reasons....duh!!!!! I've seen my primary

doctor who was happy to recommend me for the surgery. But then he

found out that Dr. R was out of the network. There are NO doctors in

the network that do this surgery, so why should I be penalized for

that????? NOW what do I do...I've asked my PCP to call the insurance

company to get an out of network referral....the nurse told me she'd

try, but that getting in touch with insurance companies was difficult

and that the doctor's have instructed them to wait on the phone only

FIVE minutes and then hang up. I'm feeling very frustrated by the

" run around " ....can anyone offer any advice????
