Hello Jeppe,

I don't take Antox even though I live not far from Manchester where

they were originally developed as a possible therapy for chronic

pancreatitis. I may try them now even though they are so expensive.

My own pancreas specialist and my gastroenterologist (Liverpool)

don't prescribe them and I think it unlikely that my GP would

prescribe these drugs unless " told " to do so by the specialists.

(The normal procedure here is that the specialist writes to the GP,

who will have referred you to him/her in the first place, as a rule,

and advises the GP on what the treatment and prescribed medication

is to be. The GP then writes any prescriptions.) On prescription it

would cost only a fraction of the full price.

However, I wanted to mention Methionine. Before looking for the

actual Antox itself, I have just begun to take a standard top-of-the-

range antioxidant which I buy at Boots, the biggest chainstore

chemists (pharmacy) in the UK. It's called " Immunace " and is made by

Vitabiotics. I've just checked the ingredients and they do include

Methionine, 20mg per capsule. This is quite an expensive antioxidant

and much dearer than many others which you can buy also in Boots,

any pharmacy or healthfood store.....it is still MUCH cheaper than

Antox!! However, I assume that the specific mix in Antox was

developed for the purpose.

There have been differing medical and scientific opinions expressed

about Antox. Some docs advocate them while others are sceptical. I

understand that new trials have begun at a number of hospitals in

Britain.

I'll have a look at the Pharmanord site again to check current

prices. Perhaps I could take out a loan!!!!!! Actually, my son, who

has been a student for a long time (!!) is just about to start

working so perhaps I'll be able to afford to try them now!!!!

Have a pain-free Sunday and a pleasant week,

With good wishes,

Fliss
