Guest guest
I have to admit, I have been hovering and reading all your posts, I came back to read after having a diagnosis that I am having a hard time dealing with. I posted my story in April (quick recap...I am 33 year old female. Pancreatitis came about the first time because of a retained stone and the ERCP proceedure that went bad. I have had this problem for almost 4 years now. Pain used to be an acute attack, then I would feel fine between attacks, but in the last year or so, the pain remains at a more subtle level, hurting at night and after meals, but the pain never completely is gone anymore, except for about 5 months this summer/early fall) I went to University Hospital in Denver and had an ERCP and had 5 months of no pain...then it came back. I was in denial for a long time, but finally went back to the Doctor in Denver and he wanted to to do another ERCP...I wasn't happy about that, but I finally found the courage (after waiting for the holidays to come and go and the prompting of pain at night)This ERCP didn't go well, as there was much change in the ducts, and lots of stenois and scarring and high pressures. I also got pancreatitis with the proceedure, so it was 4 extra days in the hospital, away from Family and friends. I went for my follow up appointment about a week ago. I was hoping that after the pancreatitis settled down, I would be pain free once again, and hopefully forever, or at least a couple of years. My bubble burst... after seeing how much change happened in the ducts and the inflammation of the pancreas, the Doctor is ready to diagnosis chronic pancreatitis. I am no longer a candidate for the ERCP and duct pressures and sphrinctomy. I wish my odds were this good with the lottery...I would be so rich!! :-) I read all your posts, I have read off and on since October when my pain came back, but all the while I was hoping for a cure to this nasty problem, but it doesn't look too promising now. Whether you know it or not, all of your post have been such an encouragement for me. I have a wonderful family, friends and family doctor who are great support system to me, but it helps so much to read from other people who are going through the same things. So...can I join this wonderful family? I don't know a lot of answers, but I can pray and empathize with you all. Thanks for being here. Suzi Buggeln BTW, anyone from Colorado?
