Guest guest
Hi all! Today was a's first soccer practice and it was 104, they said the heat index was 110 degrees!! They were outside for about 2 hrs, from 3.15 to 5.00. The coaches did not want to make them run, mostly they worked on strategy but it was miserable. She had gatorade and water but the strangest thing happened, which I have only read about it, and it sort of hit me on the head, like a ton of brick. After her sweat dried out, her sweat had crystalized on her face. I know this is normal for cf patients nonetheless, it caused me much impression. The one thing that worried me about being on that heat was pollution, it had to be high. Venanzio my nocf child had practice from 6.30 to 7.30 and now he is in bed with fever, go figure. Well, just thinking out loud. Love and health to everybody on this list. mom of a 10 wcf, Venanzio 7 nocf, Pepe 3 nocf
Guest guest
Does it usually get that hot there? We live in Texas and those are the normal summer temps. You can get a fever from getting overheated. Push the gatorade and if needed pedialyte, especially the popsicle kind. Let him sit in a luke warm shower for a good long while. I hope he feels better this morning. One thing my mom did for us when we were playing all star baseball was to take washrags, wet them, place them in a plastic bag and freeze them. She would take a bag along to the games. As they would melt a bit she would peel one off and we would stick it under our hat or wrap it around the back of our neck. I can't tell you how many games we played in August on red dirt feilds at 2:00 in the afternoon with the heat at 104 to 110. I just sweat thinking about it. Guest guest
Dawn, He must have gotten overheated. He took a shower last night and he could hardly walk, also yesterday was his first day of school. We were spoiled this summer, because we had very mild temps, but this week all hell broke loose, literally! Dawn, thank you for the tip I will most certainly do that(towels) wednesday, his next practice. We are suppost to get some cooler temps, but not today, todays is hot, 97 but it will creep to 100+ before we know it.
