Guest guest
Thanks to all for your advice about methadone. I'm still waiting to talk to Kimber and may be talking with you, Deanna, to get some more information, also. Debs, you didn't sound encouraging about methadone, or it's side effects. I appreciate your comments. I don't like the sounds of what you said. I'm still researching it, but have run into my first snag, which is probably going to elimate methadone as an option for me all together. My pharmacist does not stock it, and he told me that he doubts anyone else in the area stocks it, either. It has just become authorized for use in this state, before this it was illegal, and my pharmacist says even now that it's authorized, he won't be carrying it because of the risks involved. Too much liability for him to afford. Apparently it has a really high theft record, enough so that my physician doesn't want to pay the necessary additional insurance costs in order to keep it in stock. It must be available in Georgia, or my doctor wouldn't have suggested it. I'm checking with my case manager to see if I'm even covered to have my regular prescriptions filled in GA. She's at lunch, or she was, when I called earlier to find out. The other negating factor is that I'm not sure if I want to have to drive an hour to get my scipts filled, when there's another pharmacy only 5 minutes away from me. Especially since my doctor wants me to use only one pharmacy, anyway. I prefer to keep my business with my local pharmacist, who knows me well, and since I have eleven different prescriptions, I like to do business with someone who knows me, and by personal choice, I like to do business with our local, private shop owners as much as possible, instead of the big national chains. My pharmacist owns his pharmacy. So, that's where the new medication story stands. I'd like to get some more comments on long acting medications that anyone else has had success with, so speak up, if you're happy with yours. We've already established that I could use the oxycodone for breakthrough, but I need good information on long acting medications that I can talk with my doctor about. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. PAI, Intl.
