Guest guest
Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. I have had CP since 1996. In 1998 i underwent surgery to remove the tail of the pancreas, which didn't help. So, in 2000 i underwent a total pancreatectomy at the Royal Liverpool Hospital in UK (without islet cell transplant). My quality of life improved significantly after the TP, despite needing insulin and enzymes, and i was able to return to my career as a qualified nurse working with sick children. In recent months i experienced a set back. After experiencing recurrent cholangitis, scans showed i still had a piece of pancreas, so on 11th November i had further surgery to remove this. I am now making a good recovery, and planning to return to my work when my recovery is complete. I would love to hear from others who have had similar surgery, or anyone considering doing so. Best wishes to you all. Sue.
