Guest guest
Hi Everyone, We are on day 4 with our new helmet and I'm seeing what I think is a little bit of a rash along my son's forehead. Of course being summer it is hard for him not to feel warm and every 4 hours I take off the helmet for a 30 minute break and his poor little head is all sweaty. So far all I've been doing is washing his head down with a cool cloth and applying a good moisturizing cream. Any advice as to what else I should be doing? I don't want it to get so bad we can't put the helmet on for a few days thanks Marina
Guest guest
I could be wrong about this (so someone please tell me if I am!), but I don't think there's a huge concern for heat rash in the sense that I don't believe it would force you to have to keep the band off like you would for a pressure spot/sore. Obviously, you don't want him to be suffering from the rash, but it sounds like you're doing everything you can to treat it. Does the rash fade quickly in that 30 minutes or does it linger? I think I would be more concerned if it lingered, but if it goes away quicly, it should be fine. It always seems these things happen over the weekend, doesn't it? I would definitely suggest calling the ortho first thing in the morning just to run it past them to know for sure. Hopefully it's just a minor issue that will clear up soon (my son had some heat rash early on, but once he adjusted to the band, it hasn't been an issue since). Good luck! Guest guest
You're right . You can put hydrocortizone cream on then replace the band if it is heat rash. It should still clear up (obviously keep the baby cool too). If it is getting worse then you need to be more concerned, and it might be some other kind of rash or irritation. My daughter had brachy and her forehead would get red when her band needed an adjustment (that is where it got tight first). That was more of a general redness where her heatrash (sideburn area) was more of a light rash of small red dots. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > > > Hi Everyone, > > We are on day 4 with our new helmet and I'm seeing what I think is > a > > little bit of a rash along my son's forehead.
