I don't know if he was right or not... He isn't my dr any more. LOL I was told by a different dr that if you are on metho and you don't have any flares for a year, then he would start slowly decreasing the metho to see what minimal dose worked... I never made it that far.....it didn't work for me unfortunately. Bet I have you really confused now... Hey guys...jump in and help me out. LOL hugs
Guest guest
Hi I have been ont he MTX and been wondering the same thing, How long should I be on it and what will happen if it is stopped. Is this an indefinite thing or if you don't flare for a while is it safe to stop, also does it have to be stopped slowly or can you just stop. dawn --- Cobb wrote: > > --- Dawn wrote: > > > > kathleen > > i have done really well on mtx. at first i was > > really tired, but after about 6 to 8 weeks i > > adjusted and have had no side effects whatsoever, > > > take it and keep on moving, drink lots of water > > the day you take it and the next day. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I have been on MTX for a year now. I was flare free with normal blood test results for several months in the spring and summer. When I asked my doctor about reducing the dose or stopping, she told me that I needed to stay flare free for one year before she'd begin to reduce the amount to get me off. Have a safe and happy New Years! -----Original Message-----From: Dawn Sent: Tuesday, January 01, 2002 3:19 PMTo: Rpolychondritis Subject: Re: MTX question LizzHiI have been ont he MTX and been wondering the samething, How long should I be on it and what willhappen if it is stopped. Guest guest
Howdy Dawn, My doctor, or rather doctor Lu took myself off of it. lol But he would have because of the reaction I had to it. You don't have to come off of it slow like pred. the only thing if you start to flare then you know you need to still take it, I would think. I think we all need to ask our docs and stay informed on how long we have to be on these potent drugs. We need to outweigh the pros and cons. But since I don't have my medical license, lol don't just take my word for it. How was your Christmas? I pray all is well in your neck of the woods. Love u Lu
