Guest guest
Hi My daughter has asd and I have put her on scd about a week ago, she was previously gf/cf etc. which helped at first but I have had to keep on removing foods until there is not much left - she only eats baked goods. The trouble is since starting the diet she has refused food and lays around sleeping and crying all day. She has not eaten anything since monday lunchtime and I am worrying about her. Today I gave her an scd muffin - the peanut butter and honey ones from the book, she finally ate one and keeps asking for more so I am worried I have done the wrong thing. I am in desperate need of some help as I feel like giving up at the moment but I know this is probably the only way for her to get better. Guest guest
, Giving her SCD legal foods... even if all she will accept is the muffins, is most important. You can gradually " sneak " some pureed veggies into those muffins (squash, etc.) and get her used to the new foods. Most kids don't feel terribly well right at first. They may have some die-off going on... so lots of toxins to deal with. That would explain all the sleeping and the crying. It's hard work for her body. Is she drinking diluted juices (SCD legal, of course)? Baths with epsom salts may help. So... the peanut butter muffins, while not typically a " beginner " food, is at least legal... and free of the gut-bug feeding starches. So, don't despair. You will be surprised, as so many other parents have been, that she really WILL perk up and begin to eat foods you never thought she would. hang in there, Patti, mom to Katera Beginner Hi My daughter has asd and I have put her on scd about a week ago, she was previously gf/cf etc. which helped at first but I have had to keep on removing foods until there is not much left - she only eats baked goods. Guest guest
Hi Patti Thankyou for your encouraging words, I feel better about giving her the muffins now. She drinks lots of mineral water as she does not tolerate juices well at the moment, she is also having one epsom salt bath a day. It is so difficult to see her in pain, she is largely non-verbal although the odd sentence makes its way through and I am sure she keeps saying " help me " which is very upsetting. I will have a go at adding some veggies to the muffins, thanks for that tip. Best wishes
