My work has now begun in earnest, researching everything I can find. " It is so interesting to watch the transformation that takes place as people become empowered and take action to take back their life. It is disheartening to realize that the persons we have invested with the care of our health, either a) are not aware of the extensive knowledge deficit looming within the care and treatment of this disease are acting on the assumption that any pertinent news would come across their desk as new research data c) do not find validity in studies stating causes that 'may contribute' as warranting special consideration. The more we read, learn, and witness in others, the more we realize that as patients a) we not only have to take a proactive role as a primary member of our interdisciplinary care plan team; we have to always read the fine print, and c) assume we may be one of the " 1 -2% " or " less than 10% " . Even the smallest risk factor cannot be overlooked. This disease is one of the most unforgiving that I have known. Early recognition and intervention is critical to achieving the utmost optimum outcome. As you continue to discover these pearls of wisdom, please share them as well as their source. Often, decisions we seek from healthcare providers and the Office of Disability are dependent on submitting documentation to support the catastrophic predicament resultant from this disease.
