Guest guest
I was wondering whether it is OK to leave a helmet on with a small fever <100 F? Thanks.

Guest guest
Hello,Our ortho had us remove the helmet with any significant fever(over 99.) I would remove the helmet prior to her temp reaching 102. If you can get her fever down w/ meds, you might be able to resume wear. Also, our ortho said it takes about 3-4 days of non-wear for helmets to no longer fit. I would definitely remove the helmet. Wearing it could make the fever go higher. High fevers in babies and small children can be very dangerous with the potential to cause febrile seizures or even death. I would be very careful with a fever as high as your daughter's. Call your pediatrician for directions on how to proceed ASAP.Good luck!-AmyFrom: Marie <karen_lastovica@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Tue, March 22, 2011 12:52:14 PMSubject: Fever and helmet At what point do you take the helmet off? Twice now my daughter had fevers over 102 and this time even as high as 104. I arbitrarily decided that 102 was my cut off. Over 102 = no helmet, under 102 = helmet. Is there a recommendation for fever and helmet wear? Cranial Tech said to use my judgment and that would be fine.
