Guest guest
Hello Everyone Well our 1st annual teen/young adult adventure retreat went great ! ! ! The scenery was just gorgous,it wasn't ungodly hot or humid. Plus the mountain views were just breath taking ! ! ! We went rafting on the French Broad River and the kids and adults got to take a leap off " Jump Rock " and then go swimming in " swimmers rapids " . Then we went to the Crockett Cabin and the kids ( 9-12 ) played in the river for hours. On Saturday we went to Gatlinburg, TN for a trip down the Pigeon River. That was a lot of fun...we all got soaked...lol..again the kids played in the river. On Sunday we took everyone rock climbing and hiking to a waterfall in one of the national forests of NC. We took great pics of everyone on the rock that climbed ( I avoided this b/c of my 02 and arthritis ). I was the official picture person. Next year I am hoping to maybe include a regular camp, 5 days , for kids 8-12 and the the adventure camp for those over 12 onthe weekend the kids are there. It was great though....I haven't laughed that hard in ages...lol...we were all giggly like little kids again. We being the 17 and up crowd. Also, I have to add...why are these camps sooooo important? Well we had a few or at least one teen who was in that " I don't want to do my treatments stage b/c they don't help " but at camp she did not have to be reminded once or even told to do them ! ! ! She quoted " It was an eye opener " I have a ton of pics for anyone who wants to see. Also I want to thank Jeff Brown for being our resident driver...lol Without him..It would have been me....and that wouldn't have been too good...lol Anyways..everyone who flew in is back home safe and sound and we are now looking forward to next year ! ! !
