Guest guest
Our ortho basically said it's our choice to put Skye in a second DOC band. The OT at Cranial Tech thinks we won't see much change from 19 1/2 months - 24 months. We still have 8 weeks to go...but time has gone by so fast with great results....I'm thinking ahead a little. Did anyone with an older child see A MAJOR CHANGE in the later months from wearing a second band. Skye can graduate at 19 1/2 months and be finished before it it warms up here in Nashville or we can keep flying to Chicago every 3 weeks and pay another $2000 for another band and wear it through summer. Our ortho doesnt think we'll see much change after 19 months and says she would stop after this first band. Would you guys agree or disagree with that? Skye's not a severe case, but any change is worth it in my opinion. Mom to Skye (Started DOC band at 15 1/2 months old)
Guest guest
I had the same convo today with our ortho at CT. My son should graduate at 15 months and the ortho said she doesn't really suggest a second band cause she doesn't think there would be that much change from the second band. At least not enough to make a difference. We still have 6 weeks. I still have some thinking to do because I also fly out of state for our doc bandSent via BlackBerry from T-MobileFrom: Rygmyr Date: Mon, 30 Mar 2009 13:52:58 -0700 (PDT)<Plagiocephaly >Subject: 2nd band? Guest guest
My son received his second DOCBand at 21 months old and I would say we saw as much change (if not slightly more) with the second band as we did with the first. I'm really glad we had the chance to get the second band. I just kept my expectations really low and was pleasantly suprised. Probably the last 3-5 weeks or so, we didn't see much change, as he approached his second birthday, but the 12 or so weeks prior to that was enough to make all the difference. I have his before and after photos in the Older Plagio Kids folder, but it just occurred to me that it might be helpful to have the in-between photos as well. I'll try to work on that and get them posted for you to look at. Jake-2.5 (DOCBand Grad 9/08) Jordan-5 > > Our ortho basically said it's our choice to put Skye in a second DOC band. I'm glad to know I"m not the only one out there getting the same advice....let me know what you decide to do. Are you happy with the correction so far? Guest guest
it seems that you got a nice correction of facial asymmetry. very encouraging! zhyldyz From: <nwilkens2275@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Monday, March 30, 2009 9:46:04 PMSubject: Re: 2nd band? I just uploaded a new photo study (Jake W. Before During and After in the Older Plagio Kids folder). It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures, but his measurements improved by about the same amount or better with the second band:Traditional Cranial Vault: 15 -- 11 -- 5Cranial Vault: 19 -- 10 -- 4Skull Base: 15 -- 10 -- 6I don't put a ton of stock in the numbers alone, but I think they at least depict the amount of correction we got accurately, give or take a mm. And when I compare his head molds, there are visable differences. Of course every baby is different, and my son grows like a weed, so he may not be the norm. But hope that helps some.Jake-2.5 (DOCBand Grad 9/08)Jordan-5> >> > Our ortho basically said it's our choice to put Skye in a second DOC band.
