Guest guest
Hi, A patient wrote: > I went to the DR's last > week for my 2 month post op check up and I am down 34lbs. Not the greatest, > but I `m getting there. Hmmmm... Lets see. This patient was 225 lbs pre op. Now if she is indeed down 34 lbs. then her weight is now ~ 191 lbs. (Last time under 200? More than five years ago.) If we go to the computer model that tells us what she should expect to lose http://clos.net/predict-wt-loss.htm We find that a 225 lb patient at 2 months is calculated by the computer model to be expected to lose... Exactly 34 lbs.!!! (Range 30 to 38.) If that patient were to lose like a 400 lb patient (I.e. 55 lbs.) she would be dead in a year. I need to do a better job of preop education.
