Guest guest
Robin, When I went to see my new PM doctor that I wrote you about, I was on 50 mgs. duragesic and 40 mgs. oxycontin. My doctor took me off the oxycontin also, saying that it was not standard or suitable practice to have a patient on two different long acting narcotics. He said either more or one or more of the other, but not both. Since I'd had good success with the duragesic for the last year, without any side effects, he chose to increase my duragesic up to 75mgs., too, and took me off the oxycontin. I did not go through any kind of withdrawal. This has, so far, seemed to work well. Tonight has been the first exception, since unfortunately I believe I'm starting either an attack or a really bad episode. But for normal, daily pain maintence, this increase of the duragesic for the last 2 1/2 weeks, has worked well thus far (knock on wood!!!) Give yourself several days to get accustomed to the change and see how you're doing. What did he give you for breakthrough? With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Any thoughts on whether anyone has followed a similar pain management pattern? He said I shouldn't go through any type of withdrawal, because he replaced the oxy with enough of the patch. I just took my last oxy...
