Dr. Freedman,

Copied this from pecanbread.com:

<< It is not unusual for kids to have some negative reactions at first as

bacterial overgrowth and yeast " die off " , releasing toxins. This could manifest

itself as behavioral symptoms (stimming, tantrums, etc.) or physical symptoms

such as nausea, headache, or even fever. Give child lots of love during this

difficult time. Try epsom salt baths and activated charcoal supplements. Check

out the Initial bad reactions link for more details. >>

Die-off symptoms can be very different from one person to another... but should

be temporary. An increase in GI symptoms is not unusual at first.... but again,

should be temporary. Only you can really be the judge as to whether you are not

tolerating the yogurt. If you've had problems with cow dairy in the past, maybe

you should try goat yogurt, as it's generally easier to digest.

You'd have to remind me of how long you've been on SCD... as it's difficult to

keep track of everyone on the list. Best to always sign your post with that info

when you're asking a question.

Patti, mom to Katera, SCD 2003-04.... and now for the second time around since

5/27/06... for support of seizure control.

Die-Off Symptoms

I believe I asked this before but still unclear about die off symptoms.

What are examples of die-off symptoms and how do they differ from merely

intolerance to the yogurt? Thanks all!
