Guest guest
My daughter started to wake up at night also. When she does I give her a little bit of warm milk and rock her. It's hard because you want to just take it off, but no matter how bad the urge you have to remind yourself that it won't get better if they don't wear it. My daughter is now sleeping through the night and doesn't seem to mind it. I can still hear her let out little short crys when she rolls over. Hang in there it gets better. My 9 month old son just got a helmet over a week ago. And he is having a very hard time sleeping at night and his naps are all over the place. He used to have one 1 1/2 hr nap and a two nap during the day. Now we are lucky if he gets one 1 1/2 hr nap. At night he toses and turns as soon as he is asleep, wakes up ever so often but goes back to bed after a binkie. Right around 1-2am he is up and crying there is no consoling him at all. Last night after 90 minutes or so of rocking him and letting him cry we took the helemt off and he went back to sleep (after calming down). We would apericate any tips/advise to get past this. Do we let him cry it out? Do we take the helmet off? Thank you all in advance,Joaquin
Guest guest
Have you tried putting memory foam on the mattress? A lot of people have used that and it seems to make the bed more comfortable. We bought a twin-size piece of memory foam at Target (appx $40) and cut it down to fit the size of the mattress; I placed in underneath the waterproof mattress pad and sheet. That seemed to help my son sleep better in his band. Also, make sure your son isn't dressed too warm. The band keeps the babies warm so they can get away with wearing a lot less clothes than normal. We had our band during the summer and dressed my son in a onsie shirt with a light blanket on him. I also had a small fan attached to the side of his crib to blow some cool air in the crib. I hope these tips help! Molly Novato, California Nicolas, 2.5, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, Graduate! , 5 , 8.5 Help with sleeping Hello all, I'm a brand new member. Guest guest
I really like the memory foam idea. We'll be sure to try this if Zack needs it after he's rebanded. Lou Annlawoman1729@...Lou Ann Fugate
Guest guest
Thank you for the words of incouragement. Did you let your daughter cry it out at night when she wouldn't go back to sleep? Or did the bottle help fall back to sleep? It's so hard being up for that long in the middle of thenight when both of us have to work at night. Thank again, Joaquin Help with sleepingPlagiocephalyDate: Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 11:46 AM Hello all, I'm a brand new member. My 9 month old son just got a helmet over a week ago. Guest guest
The bottle usually helps. Sometimes I would just hold her and let her cry. She's doing great now. She's actually starting to take naps again. When I lay her down I put her on her side and she rolls over on her tummy. She won't stay asleep if I leave her on her back. It'll get better. I had never heard of the memory foam, but it sounds like an excellent idea. Guest guest
we also used the target foam and cut it to fit the crib and placed it under the waterproof pad. This seemed to work for us. Perhaps the helmet needs an adjustment? Any red spots or reaction to the foam other times of the day? I was lucky to have a baby who slept through the night from day one but I feel for all the mothers who are suffering. I would try the foam and also try a very mild shampoo like California Baby Super Sensitive shampoo. Diapers.com sells it. It worked great for my son and is organic and all that but is so mild. Perhaps the soap you are using is irritating his head. Also clean the foam with a toothbrush and alcohol, we used 75% alcohol and this really was what worked for us. good luck .Tammy From: Foley, Molly <mafoley@...>Subject: RE: Help with sleepingPlagiocephaly Date: Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 8:12 PM Have you tried putting memory foam on the mattress?
