Guest guest
I was curious about that too with Hanger b/c most of the pictures I saw online of kids with Hanger bands were very similiar to Starbands (more of just a round opening in the top) but one of the posters at the Hanger office it looked more open like a Docband (though you could still tell it was thicker material). I do know that Doc, like said, has several, I think a plagio, a scaph, and a brach helmet. Though I did once see one I had never seen or heard of, I assumed it to be a post op band. It covered the entire head so that it had to have velcro on both sides to pull it apart to open and get it off On Sat, May 17, 2008 at 1:42 PM, <nwilkens2275@...> wrote: I don't think I've ever seen a StarBand that didn't have the full coverage look. I think the openness of the DOCBand aids in allowing more heat to escape from the top of the head and makes the band less cumbersome. The " peninsulas " (great word for them) or caps of the DOCBand are placed strategically depending on the shape of the head. If the baby has right plagio, the caps will be on the right side, and vice versa for left plagio. Some have 2 caps and some have 3. Brachy and scapho DocBands will look different. That's my answer from a DOCBand perspective. Hopefully someone can answer your question from the STARBand side of things. I would definitely be interested to see some photos of a STARBand that has a wider opening on top, just for my own reference. Do they have any posted on a website you can share? Guest guest
http://www.starbandkids.com/resources/gallery.htm I was doing some research online and saw these pictures of babies with STARbands. It shows different ways some of the STARbands are. Guest guest
Angie, this website you listed below is the website that sparked my question originally. They show photos of STARbands that look very different than pictures I've seen anywhere else. This is the only place I've seen STARbands not have the traditional small circular opening at the top so it had me curious if anyone actually has a STARband that looks like one of these "non-traditional" and if so, what head shape did they have (Plagio, Brachy, etc)? Thanks, Upstate SC Re: Starbands - why do some look like DOC bands but some don't I don't think I've ever seen a StarBand that didn't have the full coverage look. Guest guest
I am not sure. I know when my daughter wore a STARband it looked like the style we see the most. But that was in 2002. She was high moderate to severe plagio/brachy. Angie Re: Starbands - why do some look like DOC bands but some don't I don't think I've ever seen a StarBand that didn't have the full coverage look.
