Guest guest
The best food is liver? I think it should be organic though. You can disguise little bits in her food if she doesn't like it. I've read in older posts that Elaine talks about the benefits of it. Pearl Bunce wrote: Visit Your Group | Yahoo! Groups Terms of Use | Unsubscribe We Made Changes Your Yahoo! Guest guest
I was once told (by a naturopath) that one needs B vitamins to combat iron deficiency. A B-complex would certainly be safer to add in at this point. Food sources for iron would certainly seem to be far better than iron supps. Then, if she has plenty of iron in her diet but the follow-up blood levels still come back low, maybe it's more of an absorbtion issue. ?? There can be other serious disadvantages to supplemental iron, especially if you happen to have Celtic ancestry. In the case of a genetic propensity to load iron... and store it away in the brain and other organs... iron levels in the blood can show up low on the tests, when the actual problem is TOO MUCH iron! Google the disorder called " hemochromatosis " ... it's a real eye-opener. My aunt has it, so I had all the testing done since I have about 3/4 English, Irish, ish ancestry (I don't have it... but I still would never take iron supplements!). RE: Little two year old Kiki. Dear SCD pals, Rotavirus left her intestines damaged, she is truly coming out of celiac crises again....and now blood work showed a iron deficiency. The doctor wants her to take iron supplements. Yet doc truly doesn't understand the " gut bug " theory that Elaine understood so well. WE will not supplement with iron if this is what Elaine learned. We are having so much success doing it by the BTVC book and Elaine's way, that we do not want to stop " listening " now. What do others suggest that we do?
