Guest guest
Hi, Chrystal! This is Ross' mom (he was in the hospital w/you in March). How are you doing? I haven't been on the board for some time, but have checked a few times looking for your name. When did you get to come home and has everything been going ok for you? is doing really well. He got his driver's license on his 16th birthday on September 9th and has been on the go since! Sometimes, he has a little pain which he says feels like pancreatitis pain and it just flips me out! He also has trouble with his back, so sometimes he doesn't know if it is his back or the front. He has gained all his weight back plus. He is 5'7 " 171 lbs. His diabetes has been in better control than it has been in a very long time. His endocrinologist says it is b/c the pancreas also sends off glucose when a diabetic suffers a low blood sugar. Now he doesn't have a pancreas to do that so that extra glucose is not getting put in to the bloodstream but he has to pay extra attention to low blood sugars since he doesn't have that to help him correct a low blood sugar. He is at more risk of a severe low blood sugar than most diabetics. Anyway, other than that it is going pretty well. He gets pretty annoyed with the way the enzymes affect his stools though. He eats ALL the time, so of course he has to deal with it a lot. Well, please let me know how you are doing and sorry I haven't checked again until now.
