Guest guest
I have cp, and I have been diagnosed with mild depression (who hasn't with this disease). I found help through our gp and was sent to see a phchologist to through counseling and medication helped a lot. Although I did not go as far as your daughter, I found my self esteem was shot and I continually focus inward as the outside world became to much handle. I stopped going to a lot of functions and outings as I found it to much physically and mentally ( a side effect I ended up with is neurological issues). Good luck to you and get outside help for both you and your daughter. Questions? Hello to all, As most of you are aware my daughter has pancreatitis. I found out some things yesterday that really upset me and I am wondering if any of you have gone thru the things that she is. First off she has not been out of the house since Christmas. I would assume this is due to depression, which with what I have been going thru, I can understand. But if it is depression, she needs help. What can I do? Nothing really, I know this but cant except it. The other thing I found out is that she wont even bathe. And she has always been obsecessed with cleanliness. She wont shower, wash her hair, do nothing. This really has me worried. If anyone has any suggestions or been thru something like this, please respond. Thank you and love to all, Jean
Guest guest
Hi Jean, how are you? I have wondered how things were going with ya'll. Did you every try that Sands recipe I sent you? I really must say this about your daughter. I apologize before hand if I offend you. If you daughter is like as you say, then she is seriously ill and needs to be in a hospital as soon as possible. I know that may sound likes it over the top but its not. When a person has dug them selves in so deep; anything can trigger a psycotic episode. Psycotic episodes are never pretty and usually end up involving authorities. I dont know how it is in your state, but here the next of kin can have a person commited. If infact your daughter is living like you described, she needs help immediately. How would you feel if in a psycotic rage she harms herself or others. YOu have to help her, obviously her husband cant do diddly. She needs you. > Hello to all, > As most of you are aware my daughter has pancreatitis. Guest guest
Your daughter needs to be evaluated by a professional, a psychiatrist, who can prescribe proper medication for her depression. It should be done quickly. I know all too well aboutit because I went through a similar situation with my elderly mother. The newer antidepressents, such as Prozac, are very good. Please note that they also help reduce pain when used in conjuction with pain meds. I've been taking all of 10 mg of Prozac with my Ultram for several years. It's really helped with the break through pain that I get between EUS celiac plexus blocks. Again, please get her to a psychiatrist soon before she spirals further down. -Ellen Grove
