Guest guest
Interesting kick to my Friday afternoon. 3:00 p.m. appt with my PCP. When asked by my nurse what the reason for my visit, I told her for f/u on BP and to talk to Dr. T about MGB. She immediately told me that he being (meaning my Pcp) Asian, did not believe in weight loss pills and definitely not WLS. LOL I got ready for a fight. My wonderful Dr. T walks in and rechecks my BP (160/100) States to me (after I asked if he had knowledge on MGB surgery) no surgeon or anesthesiologist would touch me with my BP being this high. I concur. However, my problem is (as I stated to him) I have been on a diet most of my life...recently for the last 2 weeks, have been walking a mile 4x a week and up to jogging 1/2 (or Less) a week. I work out at the gym twice a week and have gained 2 lbs! LOL I am getting to the point where I am sick of trying! He did tell me that he had heard of the surgery and that it was in his opinion better than the others. My Dr. T decided that I must do something for him before he would agree to following me for this surgery. He has put me on another BP pill (we are now back up to 3) and gave me Xenical to try until my appts. with the nephrologist and endocrinologist which is 9/7 and 9/22. If there is not significant weight loss by the end of 9/00 and my other doctors concure that my BP could be lowered and controlled by this surgery, he will write my letter and support me post-op. I think he did the right thing. It is a small step towards proving me right... Oh BTW....I really am trying to lose w/out the surgery. But after 15 years of this...it is getting old!
