Hi Jen; I am a RN so I know exactly what you mean. It can be very

exhausting profesion, physically and mentally. Nobody can say how

you feel but you. Some people have a much higher tolerance for pain

then others. I worked up until the day I had surgery in october,

tried to go back the first of the year but it did not work out

well. I hope to go back to work next summer. But my situation is

not common.

Your just going to have to take one day at a time and not push

yourself too hard. Maybe I did push myself too hard and tried to

deny this condition. Throwing punches in the wind, wearing myself

out fighting a loosing battle. Maybe I should have cut back months

ago. Who knows? I was hell bendt and determine not to let

anything stop me. Maybe if I had slowed down and listened to my

body I wouldn't be where I am now. Who knows?

Only you know how you feel. Dont be so foolish as I to think I had

to be super woman and conquer the world. Its not worth it. One

thought, had my supervisor had not hounded me about excessive

abscentism and getting fired I might have taken some time off when i

was unwell. Who knows?

I know the money makes things harder, we all have to live on budgets

and its very difficult to have your income drop by that much, I

worried about that a lot; and still do.

I guess what I am trying to say is take your time, dont try to do

too much too soon and listen to your body, really listen.

Warmly

Hi Jen,

Chrissy has a valid point about listening to your body and not trying

to be a super woman. I too have had similar experiences. Don't know

if you are spiritual, but I have found prayer helps. Good Luck !!

Love, Cyndi

I personally found it very difficult, I started back to work on a three day

work week. It turn out in hindsight to be to much to soon. I did this in a

fast paced hi teck firm for one year. I was then pressured into going four

days by my employer and especially my insurance co. I did this for two

months up till last Thursday when I was forced by my employer to take a

short medical leave due to my neurological difficulties handling the hi teck

requirements. Good luck, my advise is go back at your pace and don't be

forced into going to fast. Also be prepared as I am learning to think about

another occupation if necessary.

Help, returning to work (nurse)

Hi again to everyone. I'm a nurse and I lost my job in the fall due

to being hospitalized with pancreatitis. I've been sick on and of

again since then. I have pancreatic divisum and i'm going to have a

stent placed in about 3 weeks. I'm supposed to be starting my new

job this week, with me working in a personal care home. I'm very

nervous about going back to work, cause as you know nursing is a

very physical job. Yet I need the money and have been unemployed to

long. I guess I just want to know how people found returning back

to work. I'm really scared and don't want to lose another job.

Thanks, Jen
