Guest guest
Dear April, If you are going by the BTVC book, this is what it tells you to do. Make the yogurt with SCD legal starter with no bifidus, and fill you intestines with lots of good gut bugs with this. Also get a SCD legal acidophilus and take it on the side. This simple and sweet and easy...especially if you use a little honey. lol! You poor thing, you are experiencing DIE OFF and the bad gut guys are releasing their toxins. Go get yourself some activated charcoal capsules and take them one hour before or one hour after meals. Will help with this horrible icky feeling you are having. This transition can last 3 to 10 days...we are all individual. Also buy a BIG BOX of Epson Salt, and soak in a nice warm tub. This will help too! You are right...die off is not fun...but necessary for the gut to heal and to become healthy again. Pecan Bread is normally a happy crew...some of us just get fussy when those try to hurt the integrity of the SCD TM diet, that has worked miracles for over 60 years. Stick with us please...we will get happy soon I hope! God Bless you in your healing, Hope this helps you feel better, Antoinette and entire house of five, SCD 2/06/ celiac, asd, add, adhd and hyperekplexia) Probiotics Dear Group: I hope this question doesn't tick anyone off. That seems to be the feeling on this group for the last 24 hours. I'm also on the enzymesandautism yahoo group and a lot of them are taking and/or giving Culturelle. I'm trying to transition the family as we speak to SCD and its going ok. Although my body is the one giving fits, loose BMs. My son is actually firm BM but not too constipated. Been loose for a long time, he has been. My question is if we are putting in good strains of bacteria and trying to heal the gut, would it not be ok to use culturelle? Its got the lactobicilla (or whatever) but the SCd probiotics I've read about are acidopholus. Can anyone shed light on whether one is better than the other? I've looked at Candex, Candidase and Culturelle and am really confused. I did my first batch of 24 hour yogurt and am pleased with the yogurt maker I bought at Sonoma! Its the Euro cuisine. How long does die off last? I reduced my sugar and now eliminating it and I feel horrible for at least part of the day! Yuck! Help! april. (33 yo mom with intestinal problems undx'd and Matt 7yo ASD) Trying to start SCD but confused Nuts vs. SCD Intro. everyone seemed so nice until the last day or so! I hope we can get happy and help each other! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Culturelle has the Lactobacillus GG strain. Elaine recommended L. Acidophilus, but I am sure there are other parents on the list who have used Culturelle. Perhaps they will chime in and say how this worked with SCD. For die-off, try getting some activated charcoal. Also Epsom Salts baths help ease some of the discomfort for some people. I would highly recommend the Intro Diet and adding foods slowly if that is at all possible. I think you will get the best results that way. Keep a food log. It will really help. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
the lactobacillus GG is a particularly good strain, unfortunately not avoavaliable here in australia without the bifidus > > Culturelle has the Lactobacillus GG strain. > Elaine recommended L. Guest guest
Can someone please explain to me the difference between probiotics and progurt? I understand that the progurt is placed in the yogurt, but do you use the probiotics as well at the same time? Thank you Cindy, mom of Kasam 4 1/2 ASD
