Guest guest
Bob, Hi and welcome. I had my surgery on 6-2-00 and have lost 36#. I found this site at the end of April (Easter weekend) and like you made an immediate appointment with my PCP. I saw him on 5-1 and sent in my PI that day. It went fast for me so keep up the pace. The longest wait was for insurance approval. What seems to work best is getting to know the people who are reviewing your insurance and making daily calls to check on the progress. I was like you when I found this site, I wanted it yesterday. I could not wait and I knew that when more people found out about this it would snowball out of control. I have told some friends about this and of course they are able to see my changes but they have not been like us about wanting to proceed. I sure do wish you luck. BTW Dr. Bill Ingram of Alabama had surgery the same day I did and you may want to speak to him for a male perspective. As far as the pain issue goes- Yes, as women we pride ourselves in having higher pain tolerance than the men. But you have read enough posts to know that many of us did not fill our pain prescriptions. You just do not need it. I stayed at the Duke Tower on the 2nd floor and was concerned that I would not be able to climb the steps post-op. I was able to climb the steps and carry my one year old grandson around, not at the same time though. I'm not that stupid. If you have had a laparascopic gall bladder surgery the pain is less than that. I used my pain pump for a few hours arter surgery (I think 3 times). Not terrible pain just discomfort. If as you say pain is your biggest obstacle you have no obstacle. Darlene Steele, wrote: > Help...... > > I am new to the site. Guest guest
Hello, I cant give you any help as to the surgery and what has happened to your husband, but I most certainly will pray for him and am thinking of you also. That is a horrible story and I am so sorry that you both are going thru all of this. My daughter has pancreatitis and the doctors wanted to perform this surgery on her a couple of years back, she was going to have it done and then she suddenly changed her mind because of such fears as you are speaking of. I surely hope Bob gets better. My thoughts are with you both. Jean
