Hi all, 's bloodwork came back and I just got a call a few minutes

ago, Everything is fine, even is staph is gone. But there was a problem, His

blood sugar was elevated and they are concerned. I feel very uneasy, does this

mean there is a good chance that he has diabetes? The cf nurse told me not to

worry about it until we get the results of the glucose test that we are being

scheduled for next week, but you know how it is. In my family we have diabetes,

I

myself both times being pregnant had to have insulin and food control. I know

its a different kind of diabetes but overall as I get older my chances

increase to develop it. My questions are what happens if has diabetes?

How

will it affect his cf? Will he die sooner now because of it, isn't he to young

to have diabetes? Isn't diabetes affect the liver? Is it common for cfers to

get diabetes and what age? And did we give him to much sugar to have caused it?

I am not very educated on this aspect of diabetes and cf. I know I'm jumping

the gun but I would feel better knowing what to expect before it happens. The

nurse told me if it does come back positive, then we will be sent to an

endocrinogolist (sp?) If anyone on the board can let me know, or who has had

experience in this kind of situation, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks to

all.

, mommy of 5 years old w/cf/adhd and 2 yrs old no cf
