Guest guest
I have a question for everyone, I was seen by my GI for a post-op f/up. At that time he had asked me to consider an internal mophine pump for pain control or to have the nerves cut that go to the pancreas. My problem is that I read the posts that different ones have and see that some are on stronger pain med than what I am on and wonder why my doctor would suggest the treatments I have listed instead of trying stronger pain med. I am currently on Lortab 10/500mg. I take 1 1/2 every 6 hrs. I am still having considerable pain but am afraid of taking too much med. I have an appt. with GI on 01/26/04 to decide what I want to do. I am off work currently and am receiving disability. I want to go back to work but if I have the procedures above I'm afraid I would be off work longer and chance losing my job. I have been off work since 12/09/03. I am also going through a divorce so it has really been difficult time to keep my head up. Any advice would be appreciated. Sincerely, Patty Louisville, KY
Guest guest
Thanks Sandy I have had the same concerns as far as cutting the nerves. I wondered if it would affect other parts of my body. The morphine pump also seems too extreme as far as treatment at this time. I am going to talk to the doctor to see if there is a longer acting pain medication. I am mainly homebound. Just driving short distances in my car cause pain. I am having a BIG problem with dizziness. I haven't felt like eating much but I think that has to do with me going through a divorce. Today has been a very difficult day alot of tears and crying. Sincerly Patty Louisville, KY
Guest guest
No I wasn't aware of that. I do remember seeing something about nerves rejuvinating on TLC or Discovery channel. I wish there was an easy answer to control this pain. Thanks for your input Patty Louisville, ky
Guest guest
I can feel your pain (no pun intended) but I have medical and my GI Dr. came to visit me in the hospital but when I got out I went for my follow-up visit I informed his nurse the my insurence had changed from Blue Cross (Pre-Hospital) to Medical (post). His nure refused to let me see him and told me that I needed to find another Dr.and was really rude to me (!) Because they dont accept it. I received a call about 4 days later from their office appearently thr Doc heard her and told her that he would accept it. She even apoligized to me for being rude. Needless to say that made my day better. " ...But when they found out all I have is mdeicare, they stopped everything. It's like being punished b/c you got sick.
