Guest guest
Diane, Your comment to Karyn about your mother questioning your need for a cleaning woman now that you " are all better " prompted me to tell you about my dad. He, too, thinks like your mother does. Often he'll say something about my being all better after I've had a spell of good days and haven't been in the hospital or in bed. He's 80, and still of sound mind and health, but he just doesn't get it. No matter how many times we explain it (CP) to him, if I " look good " or tell him I've been doing well, he thinks it's all gone. Fortunately he understands the diabetes much better, although he still can't figure out how I could get it because no one else in our family tree has ever been diabetic. So you aren't the only one with a relative like this. The hardest part for my Dad to figure out is the low fat business. Whenever we visit, he always wants to eat at his favorite restaurant where the menu is very heavy on all the gravies and sauces and sauted in butter entrees, but if I'm looking good, (which I naturally make an extra effort to do when we go to see him) he thinks it's okay. Fortunately he lives far enough away that we only have to deal with explaining it all over again a few times a year. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. She seemed almost disturbed by the idea that I though I needed that even when I was " all better " . It was hard to explain to her that just because I'm not in the hospital or have an IV at home, doesn't mean I'm " all better " . I think I even said, " I'm never all better.
