Guest guest
You just never know: I have cf, was born prematurely with meconium ile us, weighing (those who know me can start laughing) 2.5 lbs. and was a midget (euphemistically speaking) until age 16 when I grew ab out 8 " and kept on growing until age 22; puberty happened at about age 18.5--at last! Then in my late fifties I got downright chubby! My oldest children are tall, dark, very slender and are carriers with other medical problems than cf, but well. I mean very, very tall!!!! My youngest wcf finally staggered to somewhere between 5' and 5' 2 " in adulthood, and beefed up nicely--never even made it to the 1st per centile as a child! But that " kid " is the strongest of the bunch, and despite serious illness in childhood and youth, can easily take on the other two (singly) at Karate, Kungh Fu, etc. My husband was tall, hefty, strong, athletic, and blonde with blue eyes (had to wear sun glasses); the " kids " are blondish brown-haired with black-eyes, reddish-brown haired with dark green eyes, and then the last one, known as a kid as " short stop, " has a good self image and, as they all are, is the athlete of the century--and my husband always said that each was smarter than the two of us put together. The last one, wcf, the short one, is so blonde as to blind you, grey eyes; all got my mother's absolute pitch and musical ability, cf, and cf-carrier state, not withstanding, we sure did spend their childhoods trying to put weight on all of them-- the grocery bills were, and remain for the last one, outrageous! To this day, I pity their spouses! I can no longer afford to send grocery checks! The family joke about the kids, coloring notwithstanding (olive-skinned) was " Well, we know who these kids' father was--now just who was the mother? " They DO resemble their father far more than they do me--which is fine with me--I mean he was rather good-looking. But, back to size , it is hard to tell; kids and adults wcf vary so greatly; except for extreme shortness (under 5'), I tend to think that nutrition is the important thing. Thanks for putting up with today's " fit, " Love to all at cf parents, n Rojas, wcf, cfrd, height and chub, etc. ps; we did have the youngest tested for bone growth and hormones at about age 13; the verdict: " congenitally short stature! Guest guest
n, When do you get a stomache ache, when you take too few enzymes or when you take too many? Abby gets terrible stomache aches about once every ten days. The pain keeps her up all night. She's too little to talk yet, so we can only assume that her stomache hurts. I had her over last Friday night and her stomache was so hard and round. She cried off and on all night. The next day around noon, she had a big runny poop. She seemed to feel better then. The clinic says that we need to start varying the number of enzymes, based on the meal. The hard stomach makes me think that we gave her too many, but the runny poop would indicate too few. How do we know what to do?
