Guest guest
Hello. My 9 mth old son has been in his Hanger band for 2 mths. The first month we caught a growth spurt and saw a big improvement, the second month's progress was not as great. I mentioned this to a mom in my child's playgroup who is an childrens OT/PT and she asked if I was keeping my son off his back - when I told he still sleeps on his back and occassionally play on his back while rolling around (always with helmet of course) she said this is why improvement has slowed down. My ortho never told me that he cant sleep or play on his back while wearing the helmet. Was anyone given sleep and/or play instructions by their ortho? Guest guest
I have never heard or read this. Our son is almost done with his hanger band and he slept on his back for the first few weeks. Since then he has been sleeping on his tummy pretty much all night. He still plays alot on his back since he isn't crawling yet and just rolling. We do PT for torticolis as well and she never mentioned this either. > > Hello. My 9 mth old son has been in his Hanger band for 2 mths. Guest guest
I think with the helmet on it doesnt matter - at least from what I understood. My daughter was a back sleeper the whole time we were in the helmet ( still is at 9m) and she had great improvement with her helmet. I thought that the helmet helped the pressure points regardless of position. I guess asking the orthotist would be the best choice. - Meg > > Hello.
