Guest guest
After 4 months of almost pain free except for what I have been experiencing when I swallow cold or hot drinks, the scar tissue must be returning after they did my last big sphincterotomy, because I have been battling that tight feeling, pain, and general uncomfortableness again..first signs of an attack for me. This on top of a huge open incision that I now have to get my husband to dress morning and night, worries me, purely because I always end up in the ER with my attacks, as the pain is always on a 10+ level..grrrrrrr...and I swear I end up sicker after being in hospital *laugh* My darling health insurance company have yet boobooed again, stressing me out and this could be aiding in my newest attack...they let me know today that I have come to the end of the amount allotted for a home health nurse to dress my wounds..$1800 for the nurse coming out twice a day for only one week, and cop this...$2200 for supplies..my god they only brought enough gauze, padding, tape and 1 bottle of saline solution to last 3 weeks...and they charge in the thousands for that? It is absolutely ridiculous..and then the guy they spoke with at my insurance..says..you need to get her into case management with us, we may be able to extend her nursing days needed and help with more supplies (could be a couple of months before it's healed over).. And what is funny is that I have been in case management since February 2003...they are such a smart bunch at BCBS sometimes..I'd hate to see what they could come up with when they put their heads together and think...I rang my case manager and she is fuming because she never even knew about me having home health nurses come out, my incision opening and the infection that has set in...and she is supposed to approve everything... With everything I have learnt..taking care of my own central line, injecting myself with blood thinners, telling nurses how much blood is required for the specific blood tests required, not to mention how much more I know about pancreatitis than a lot of doctors I've seen, and now having to pack my own wounds with the help of my hubby...I think I should receive my nursing diploma...*L* oh well, that's it...except this time I don't feel any better even having gotten that off my chest...actually, a question for anyone who might know... If my doctor decides to go ahead and get hospice or someone to bring out an IV pump so I can stay at home to get over the attack, is hospice included as a home health visit? or is it a separate issue? (for lack of a better description difference..sorry)
