Guest guest
Dear Angel, I am so sorry that you are experiencing pain again, especially as you hoped all would be well after your distal pancreatectomy. I am not a doctor and certainly could not begin to guess what is going on in your case; only your docs can say. However, I do know that it's common for pain to occur again while you have pancreatic tissue left. Indeed, even after a total pancreatectomy some patients continue to feel pain. I have a friend who had a distal pancreatectomy and continued to have bad pain afterwards. She may see your post and reply herself. Of course, every case is different. You cannot make comparisons and only your docs can really help. I would say it is now ESSENTIAL to get to your specialist and insist on further investigations. You shouldn't leave it; you need the pain to be dealt with and you need him or her to check everything out. I know it's not nice but you'll feel better when it's all been done! You deserve help and SOON. You will need to get the specialist to write down enough about your condition to show your Dad what is going on. If I were you, I would take the specialist into my confidence about your Dad's difficulty in understanding and ask him or her to write some very specific things about pancreatitis to explain. BTW, it could well be that your Dad is upset about you being in pain and is just dealing with it in this way....which is difficult and unpleasant for you, I know. Do you take enzymes and stick to the low-fat, no-alcohol diet? I'm sure you do. Good luck, Angel, make that appointment right now and get things sorted!! Good wishes and kind thoughts, Fliss
