Guest guest
, After hearing about your childhood constipation and need for the occasional enema and the incidences where you had blood from the rectum, I believe that internal hemorroids could be the answer to the problems you were talking about earlier. When the hemorroids become inflamed or irritated by the compaction in the colon, they can bleed. The blood would be bright red and seem very frightening for a ten year old child. That may very well be what has been bothering you earlier, the pressure and burning feeling that you were talking about. I would discuss this frankly with your doctor. As I said before, he or she may feel that a colonscopy is in order. It is a problem that can reoccur, due to the constipation and or diarrhea episodes that many of us deal with, with our CP and the use of narcotics. Almost all narcotic analgesics do cause constipation, that's why those of us that are on daily pain medication are advised to keep our diets heavy in fiber or take fiber supplements. Some of us also need further help, so we use over the counter products like Colace, Sennekot, or Metameucil. When all else fails, our doctor's prescribe stronger products like Miralax. I've had to use Miralax two or three times a week now for the past year due to my heavy pain medication use. Please bring this to your doctor attention. There are procedures that can remove internal hemorroids, if you choose to go that route because they bother you too much. While this may not be a problem now, it may be something you would want to consider in the future. I know it's an unpleasant subject, I know, but it can become a daily, painful nuisance if it's not treated. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Severe constipation incidents where my mother would take me to ER in the middle of the night for enemas (at about the age of 5) when I was about 10 I remember about 3 incidents of bleeding HEAVILY from my rectum into the toilet. Guest guest
Thanks Heidi.....I'm sure I'll have to find out about this aspect as well at some point. Had the MRCP today, was up all night last night in pain/nausea.....came home and slept from 1000 until 200. I had the unmitigated gall (tee hee) to eat 5 mini wheats today and am sick as a dog. Yesterday I had nothing but yogurt, a banana, and a sandwich (2 pcs of toast/NO FAT chicken and NO fat cheese THAT WAS IT!!).....made me sooooo sick. Guess I can't tolerate protein AT ALL anymore.... txs again > I'm looking back at my childhood and remembering some " odd " incidents as > well.
