Guest guest
Suz... The only thing I would say to clarify is that initially they didn't know what was wrong with me. I had severe abdominal pain, RUQ, a high white count, fever, nausea...after about 4 days in the hospital I started to get better after lots of antibiotics, but they wanted to do exploratory surgery. All they found a ruptured ovarian cyst, some fluid in my abdomen but nothing else. They said they looked at my gall bladder and it looked fine. So, they sent me home, and a month later I was in pain again. This time in the sonogram they said my gall bladder was full of stones and sludge. In a month's time my gall bladder went bad. Very strange. Anyway, then they took my gall bladder out, and I would say that since that time I've never been out of pain. I kept waiting to get better, and it's been 3 years! I really think that some stones and/or sludge drained into the pancreatic duct and just sat there until they did the ERCP a year a half later. By this time the damage had already been done. Sorry if this is disheartening, but it surely doesn't mean this will be what will happen to you. Just sharing my story. Especially if you were diagnosed with an acute pancreatic attack, the symptoms can go away and may never return especially since your gall bladder has been removed. There's quite a difference between an acute pancreatic attack, and chronic pancreatis. So that's good news for you! Hope you are feeling well today. Let me know if you have any other questions.
