Guest guest
The tort causes her to prefer one side. The PT will help but repositioning is an uphill battle. Banding will be a huge help since you don't have to repo while banded. Guest guest
Thank-You so much. That eases my mind more about banding her. Guest guest
If she is a candidate for the band, it will relieve the stress of aggressive repositioning, since the band will protect her head/flat spot from getting worse. However, I would recommend continuing with some of the repo techniques even with the band until her tort is resolved. My son had tort and part of our at-home exercises/routines included some of the less aggressive repo techniques (unfortunately, no one told me to repo for the flat spot, I only associated it with helping tort). For instance, laying them in the crib so that they look to the weak side to see the door and you, changing and feeding them so they have to look towards the weak side to see you, positioning them in their highchair, bouncey seat, etc. so that they have to look to the weak side to see the action (you, tv, sibling, etc). And a lot of tummy time. Those techniques will continue to help her neck strength so that the tort resolves faster. My son's was resolved in 2.5 months. But you definitely won't have to worry about waking up in the middle of the night to reposition her or stress about every minute she's lying flat. And that will be a relief! Please let us know how the eval goes. Good luck! Jake-21m (tort resolved/rt plagio/DOCBand #2 2weeks) Jordan-4 > > My 4 month old baby girl has a mild case of torti and plagio. Guest guest
Just an update on how Jersey'w appointment went at Cranial Tech. The PT at Cranial Tech here is Austin is AWSOME! She took a look at my baby girl and told me that she was a perfect canadiate for the DOC band. Before I even made it out of the office they were already faxing my information to my insurance to be checked and approved. She fell in love with my daughter and really seemed like she loved her job and my child. I feel so comfortable that they are going to take care of my baby girl and help her with her get a better shaped head. So we are now awaiting the insurance approval and then she will be imaged! I can't wait for her to start her treatment! Mom of Jersey (4 months awaiting imaging) -11 -8 Layla-6 > > > > My 4 month old baby girl has a mild case of torti and plagio.
