It´s very popular here, (thanks to a pole manufacturer) specially among a bit older people ( 47 … yrs. ;-) ) I exercise it every now and then, but in winter I prefer cross country skiing, on a quite flat field nowadays. Due to my trach tube/mucus /coughing I often take my own paths, but this kind of moving helps getting the mucus up.
