Guest guest
Hi all, I just wanted to let y'all know how great Dr. Rutledge and his staff really are. I started getting red spots on my left lower leg on the way home from VA. By Sunday, I was freezing (yet burning up), blood pressure was 54/36, and my leg was swollen-red-hot-and in extreme pain. Monday morning the fever and chills were over, but the leg was worse. I emailed Dr. R but also tried to call. Barb told me he was out of the office that day (Monday). She then told me to go to the hosp. She had Dr. R's PA call me. I must say that not even 5 min had lapsed. Off to the ER I went and was checked out for blood clots. I was lucky because they found no trace of any. They checked for everything, lungs - blood (CBC) - clots - etc. They finally decided I got some hair follicles infected from shaving without cream. This led to cellulitis. I am home now and on antibiotics. I have to follow up with my PCP on Sept. 6th. The funny thing is: They kept showing off my MGB scars and pushing on my belly. They just can't believe it had only been 18 days since I had surgery. Other than this one back step, I am feeling great! My energy level is high over the charts. I would still be going strong if my leg would let me. I haven't done this much in over a year. I don't think I can stand much more of this laying around with my leg raised up. :-( Just so I make it plain to all - DR. RUTLEDGE AND HIS STAFF ARE THE BEST AROUND. from SC Post-op and proud of it! MGB Date 8/10/00 387 lbs./ 356 lbs. at surgery time/ If you see someone without a smile, Give them one of yours. If you and I should meet and You forget me, you have lost nothing. If you meet JESUS and you forget him, you will have lost everything.
