My baby needs a 2nd band, do you think he made good progres so far?

Hi all,

My son got his Doc Band 3 months ago and he went from 24 mm to 15 mm and his

brachy went from 96% to 86%. I am happy with his brachy numbers but a little

disappointed with his plagio numbers. I thought he would make better progress.

I really want him to have a normal, round head after putting him through all

this. He is a baby that did not and has not adjusted well to the band.

Have any of you had numbers as high as 15 mm and gone down to a decent number

like 4 or 5? I prefer 3 or less, but as long as it's just mild and looks

normal, I'm okay with it. I don't expect perfection, just a normal life for my

son. Also, his ears were mis-aligned, they look better but not perfect--I've

heard it's the last thing to correct. His right eye still bulges a little

though.

hi sarah! yay for the progress so far!! we are actually getting a second band for our son alex. we get fitted for it next monday. in his first band (doc band) he went from 15mm to 6mm—which is great! i was a little disappointed as well that he didn't fall in the 2-4mm range, but when i think of how far he's come it makes me feel so optimistic. our orthotist thinks we can get even more correction, so we are going to do it. not sure we could live with ourselves if we didn't do everything we could, you know? too bad our insurance pays for nothing. oh well.

on a side note, now that he's crawling and pulling to stand it makes me feel better knowing his head is protected!keep us posted!hollymum to 9-month old twins, alex (in doc band since 01/05/09) and max (no band necessary)

Thanks everyone!

My son was 4.5 months old when he started and now he's almost 8 mths and he's

getting his head scanned at CT next week for the second band. Will probably get

the band in a week or two after that.

I feel bad for him, but at least his head is protected b/c he's just learning

how to stand and falls all the time!
