Guest guest
I called CT, Paramus today and was told to go in for adjustment. That took care of the red spots. But today they started getting more heat rash on the forehead. Our ortho told us to put hydrocortisone on their forehead. Leave it for 10 min. for absorption. Wipe it off and put the band back on. We tried that. But Isaac was still itching badly. He tried to scratch and rub his forehead. He was crying and couldn't fall asleep for hours. I felt awful. I didn't know what else I could do to help him. Mother of 11 months old twin boys, NJ > > > > > > > , > > > > > > Thank you for the info! > > > I heard that swing time can flatten baby's head. Guest guest
Hey there , My wife and I have twin boys in helmets. Good to see you posting. Have you tried putting baby powder on the rash? We've done that on some irritated spots & it seems to help a bit. I know its hard when they don't adjust to their band as easily as we would like. But just remember that you're doing whats best for them (and they'll never remember it anyway, thank goodness). Guest guest
I would continue to try and leave the band on as long as the baby can tolerate it. He will adjust eventually. I try to think if I had a foam hat on my head I might also try and itch it to begin with also. I think it will get better, the heat is not helping. Try to keep him cool indoors for a few days to adust. Good luck. Guest guest
Our daughter Lyla had this issue and the ortho ended up putting a piece of mole skin (think soft flannel with an adhesive back) on that spot on her forehead. It definitely did the trick. It was bothering her so much that it was getting raw before the mole skin was in.As for the hydrocortisone, I've had more luck with the ointment than the cream. The ortho at CT had us keep the band off for an entire day and night to allow her forehead to heal.Perhaps call and see if they could put the mole skin in - I think some children with very sensitive skin just need a little extra something in that foam.Good luck!Sandymom to Lyla - 7 months - 25 days in Doc Band (but who's counting, right?)and Owen 4 Re: Heat rash in DOC BandPlagiocephalyDate: Thursday, June 26, 2008, 7:28 AM I called CT, Paramus today and was told to go in for adjustment. Guest guest
Thank you all for your advice! Sandy, Thank you for the tips! If the heat rash doesn't get better by our next appointment on Monday, I'll ask our ortho to do that (mole skin) for us. Isaac's heat rash is getting worse. Now it's spreading to the sideburns. We kept the band on since he didn't complain today. But it's starting to look scary when he had the band off for the bath. Half of his face is covered with heat rash. Garrick's heat rash is fading away. He didn't have much to begin with. I think maybe it's because Isaac is a much more active baby.
