Dear ,

Are your ears burning? I was just talking about you!! I thought

Nikki's wedding was already a thing of the past! You spoke so

much about it last year, that I thought it had come and gone.

Well, as you see, my daughter doesn't believe in long

engagements. That's okay, though, since she met exactly

ten years ago on the front steps of the church where she's

planning to be married in September! She's been dating him

ever since, so we know they aren't rushing into this at all. Her

fiance, being a bit old school, just believed that he had to

have himself fully established with a job, a house and huge

savings set aside BEFORE he could get married.

Fortunately, we parents were able to convince that his

pre-marriage goals could take a LIFETIME to accomplish, that

they would probably both be grey before they were a reality, and

that was something they were supposed to work for together!!

So I don't have all the months or years of preparation and

planning, we've got to accomplish this in nine months. I do

agree with you on your contribution toward Nikki's wedding, to

offer suggestions and help coordinate what THEY want, without

making it what YOU want. That's how we feel about and

Chris' plans, it's their wedding and we'll help all we can to make

it special in the way that they envision. It's not for us, it's for them.

Fortunately, they both have good heads on their shoulders, are

quite conservative in nature, and they are both very respectful of

the value of our financial contribution. Since my husband's

company took away the pilot's pensions, we are drawing from

our retirement savings, and they both seem very conscientious

about this and haven't come up with anything frivolous at all. My

only concern is that they have so many friends, and the guest list

keeps growing! We're already over 250. I've told her not to make

any new friends until the wedding's over...hahaha!

I hope everything continues to go so smoothly for you. I was

planning to write to you offline anyway, for some tips and advice,

so you'll be hearing from me very soon.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi
