Guest guest
Dear Robin and group. President Clinton finally signed into law, when he was in office, that as long as you have had no lapse in coverage, ALL preexistings must be covered when changing Insurance companies. You can be declined coverage by the insurance companies based on medical history so thats why it's important, if you have a medical history that the insurance company doesn't like, to go with a company that has over 50 employees. There are no health questions on the applications if the group is over 50. It use to be 25 but was recently changed to 50. Thanks President Bush. I so hate that. It really's limit where you can go. You must stay with larger employers and it seems the smaller family owned business are more flexiable with sick time. The larger ones have their rules that they must do for all that they do for one. Sometimes a new employer may have a waiting period before coverage takes effect. In that case you must cobra your old policy until your new plan kicks in. (Pay your old company the full premium to keep that insurance intact) If you don't cobra your old policy, you will have a lapse in coverage and then the pre existing law will not apply. You will then have to wait the 6 month or year, depending on the new insurance companies preexisitng clause for new uninsured members. Remember, never a lapse in coverage and you will be fine. Also remember the 50 employee rule when looking for a new job. Due to all my health problems I am a huge decline to ALL insurance companies. I must work for a company with over 50 employees. Hope this clears the issue up in everyones minds. Have a great day Love W Wisconsin
