Guest guest
Hello all, My daughter Kirin was born 3 1/2 months premature and had a bowel resection when she was 2 weeks old; 55% of her small intestines were removed due to gangrene. She's now 20 yrs old. She has always had problems with gas, bloated feelings, and lots and lots of " dumping " . She is 5' 6 " and weights around 110...very slender. She is also developmentally delayed. I just recently discovered the SCD. We (I say " we " because at 20 I need her to want this) started the diet 4 days ago. The problem: She was dizzy soon after waking up this morning. I know there is NOT enough blood going to her head and to her feet too because her feet are tingling (not enough blood going to her extremities). Also she tells me that her hearing is " off " . We've dealt with dizziness before, but this is the longest " spell " that she has had. It may have nothing to do with the diet or it could be a good sign that her body is working hard at actually digesting food (instead of just dumping it). I should mention that she had normal stools, no gas, no bloating feelings since day 3, yesterday, of the diet (yay!). The first 2 days she had no bowel movements at all (VERY unusual for her). Any ideas what's going on? Thanks! Teri Kirin: short-bowel syndrome, DD, 4 days SCD
