Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone had any ideas on food for a campout. My husband & 11 year

old son with crohns are to campout one night with his scout troop. my

son, has missed going on any scouting camput events for 2 years because he has

been so sick. Right now he is on alot of medicine, has no symptoms showing, and

my husband thinks it would be good for him.

The one thing that makes it difficult is they are staying 4 miles away from

where they parked. They have to carry everything to camp ie: tents, sleeping

bags, food, etc. I am a little nervous because just a month or so ago Chris

could barely make it around the mall without getting tired. I am really having a

hard time letting him go to this, and I am stumped about what he could eat. I

don't think they are going to have alot of coolers since they have to carry

everything. He probably could carry his own cooler though.

If anyone has any ideas what he could carry and eat, it would be greatly

appreciated. I have been feeling very anxious since my husband signed them up

for it.

Thanks so much!

>Something fun we use to do is make banana boats. Granted this would

be a snack thing, but you starting at the top of the banana a little

on either side you make slits down to the bottom of the banana joining

the slits at the top with a horizontal slit but do not remove the flap

scoop out half the banana, until you can see the row of seeds. Then

add in goodies-honey, nuts maybe nut butter, whatever is tolerated.

Pull the flap back up over it and wrap it in foil. Cook for a few

minutes until ingredients are melted. These are so yummy! Also fruit

leather travels well and maybe some trail mix. Pancakes might be a

good idea too.
