Guest guest
Hey guys, I am a little down in the dumps today. I had my apt. to see Dr. Lo today. First of all it didn't star off too well. A 27 mile drive took 2 hours and 45 mins. on the jambed 405 fwy. It is the worse fwy here to be on!!! To make things worse I had to endure my husbands driving anf he makes me car sick. Even my six yr. old says daddy can't drive! I had a 2 hour wait to the dr., but as usual it was worth it because he spent a ton of time with me too. All of my blood work came back. Negative for the mutated cf genes all 86 of them. The bad news is that not only do I have pancreas divisum but I also have SLE or Lupus. He had this test ran twice to be sure. There was also a test called anti-nuclear AB (titer) that was twice the normal range which indicated autoimune disease. He said basically that my body thinks my pancrease is a foriegn object and is rejecting it. Also a test call IGG 1, which was double the normal range which he says confirms this diagnoses. The only treatment he said there is Prednisone, which I have already been on since Thanksgiving (for my asthma) and it is not working. I am so depressed. I had myself all set up for a quick, " oh yeah, I know whats wrong , lets go in and fix it, so you can have a life again " Big disappointment. My husband is on a downer too. He kept asking the Dr. if he couldn't just go in and attach the bile duct that isn't attached and then have me be fixed. Dr. Lo said surgery is a last resort. My triglicerides are also a little high so more pills to take for that. He is hoping that will make a differance. Does anyone else in the group have autoimune pancreatic disease? If so what treatments have been tried? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. On a better note he said to e-mail him the link for the group he is very interested in us! He has a symposiom coming up at the end of the month so he will busy until then but he wants the info anyway. I am taking all of my test result to my regular internal meds. dr. on Thursday, hopefully he may have some ideas too. When I called his office today and told his office manager/nurse the test results (I aslso faxed them to her) her reponse was " My God! How much are you going ot have to deal with? This is too much for one person to live with. Also my sedimrentation rate was over the limits too, does anyone know what this means? Well, thats the jest of it for now. More blood work to be done this week and I ahve eat high fat meals before them to get an accurate reading of the triglicerides. Oh yummy. I think I'll go to crispy creme and this little hamburger stand in " the valley " that has the best french fries. They are so good because they fry them twice and then season them with spices, and you dip them in ranch dressing. What the hell, if I am going to pay the price for it I might as well get what is super yummy! Simi Valley, CA
